On January 24, 2020,
Hartley Law Group, PLLC was proud to sponsor the Bob Huggins Fish Fry. All proceeds from the fundraiser
went to the Norma Mae Huggins Endowment Fund, which supports clinical
cancer research in West Virginia, and the
Remember the Miners scholarship fund, which helps educate mining engineers and spread awareness
of the risks associated with mining.
Many people in West Virginia have lost loved ones to cancer and mining
accidents, such as the Upper Big Branch Mine disaster of 2010. The Fish
Fry allows the community to come together, honor and remember friends
and family members who have passed; and raise money to prevent future losses.
The Event
The evening was a smashing success and featured a silent auction, live
music, a signature bourbon tasting, beer-battered fish, and ice-cold drinks.
Basketball legend, Rod Thorn, made a special guest appearance and helped
celebrate the legacy of West Virginia coal miners. WVU Men’s Basketball
Coach Bob Huggins encouraged everyone to have fun in memory of his mother,
Norma May Huggins, who lost her fight to colon cancer in 2003.
