Hartley Law Group, PLLC is once again a proud sponsor of the
Bob Huggins Fish Fry on
February 18, 2022, which benefits the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment at the
WVU Cancer Institute and Remember the Miners Flagship Scholars Program
at the WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Sciences. Coach Bob Huggins’
goal is to raise a record $1 million to commemorate the event’s
10-year anniversary.
The Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund honors Coach Huggin’s
late mother, who passed away after a long battle with colon cancer on
May 24, 2003. He then established the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Endowment
Fund in her memory.
The Endowment Fund supports patient care and clinical cancer research that
covers a variety of diseases that are common among West Virginia residents.
The Mountain State has one of the highest cancer mortality rates in the
United States.
With the help of sponsors and hundreds of others, the Bob Huggins Fish
Fry has continued to support the coach’s fund and cause. As of early
2021, more than $8 million has been raised for the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer
Endowment to help West Virginians.
With featured partner Barstool Sports, the event is presented by Little
General Stores and will feature an exciting lineup of special guests and
live entertainment, including singer-songwriter Philip Bowen and folk
jam band Lords of Lester.
As a West Virginia native, Bowen’s music is inspired by his Appalachian
roots, earning him top honors in TikTok’s Greatest Talent Competition.
Lords of Lester has been a Fish Fry favorite for many years, providing
audiences with a high-energy fusion of country, folk, bluegrass, and klezmer.
