John H. Zickefoose is a trial attorney at Hartley Law Group whose practice focuses on medical malpractice, catastrophic personal injury, and civil rights litigation.

Originally from Beckley, West Virginia, John is proud to call the Mountain State home – and prouder still to stand up in its courtrooms for the people who live and work here.

For more than a decade, John practiced complex, high-exposure medical professional liability litigation on behalf of hospital systems and health care providers across West Virginia.  Those years of health care-focused defense litigation provided John substantial insight into medicine and the healthcare industry, typically only known to those in clinical practice.

Then John answered a calling. Today, John draws from the knowledge he acquired during his work in health care defense advocate for patients and families who have been harmed while seeking care. He knows how hospitals and insurers evaluate, defend, and price a claim; he knows where the business of healthcare breaks down and how institutions close ranks when it does.

Home is Huntington, where John lives with his partner, Laci, their daughter, Rose, and two Newfoundland dogs – Levon and Murphy.  Away from the office he is happiest barbecuing, playing his guitar, or looking for box turtles with his daughter.
