Hartley Law Group, PLLC successfully resolved a lawsuit against Charleston Area Medical Center orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Cox. It was alleged in the suit that Dr. Cox performed an unnecessary shoulder surgery on Mr. Lafferty without his consent. The surgery then led to further damage that ended Mr. Lafferty’s playing career.
Tyler Lafferty filed his complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Dr. James B. Cox, D.O. and Charleston Area Medical Center Inc. doing business as CAMC Teays Valley Hospital and CAMC Orthopedics Teays Valley, Dr. Paul Dexter Akers II and Radiology Inc. Read the complaint here
A confidential settlement was reached through mediation. Mr. Lafferty was represented by Mark R. Staun, R. Dean Hartley and James M. Barber of Hartley Law Group in Charleston.
