R. Dean Hartley Elected to WVU Alumni Association Board of Directors

R. Dean Hartley, one of the founding partners of law firm of Hartley Law Group, PLLC, was recently elected to a six-year term as a member of the WVU Alumni Association Board of Directors. The eighteen member Board serves as the policy-making group of the Alumni Association, and directors are elected from across the nation and the state of West Virginia.

Mr. Hartley is a 1981 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law, who represents injured workers in a variety of cases emphasizing the representation of workers who have been injured as a result of toxic substance exposures or in industrial accidents. Since 1998, he has been Chair or Co-Chair of the American Association for Justice’s Benzene/Leukemia Litigation Group, which concentrates on understanding the toxicity of benzene and educating members on developing cases for individuals injured as a result of benzene exposure. He is a frequent invited lecturer at toxic tort conferences, and has been selected as a 2013 Top Rated Lawyer in “Mass Torts Law” by American Lawyer Media and Martindale-Hubbell™.

Mr. Hartley has been active in community service, having recently completed a five-year term as a member of the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish of Northern West Virginia. Additionally, he has been an avid supporter of West Virginia University. His affiliations with West Virginia University include Founding Visiting Committee Member, WVU School of Public Health, membership and chairperson of the Mountaineer Athletic Club’s Development Council, membership on the WVU College of Law Development Council, WVU Athletic Executive Council, and WVU Athletics Capital Campaign Committee. He is also a member of the West Virginia University Woodburn Circle Society.
